Where did 50 years go?  I got married right out of Proviso and two sons quickly followed.  Mom said, ”Go to college.”  But, noooo, I was in love.  So the first 15 years were spent doing little jobs here and there while the kids were raised.

Then came the divorce and harsh reality set in telling me I now had to earn my own way.  After several years of struggling and cold calling, I became a stockbroker with Kidder Peabody, later to become Paine Webber.  Fourteen years later I woke up one day and asked myself whether I needed all that stress in my life.  Walked in to work and quit that same day!

After taking a couple of months to decide what to do, I fell into commercial property management and found I was quite good at it and enjoyed it.  I managed a large complex for Symantec in Cupertino, California until the largest building was sold and I was out of a job.  Both boys and their families lived in Florida so it was time to go there and retire…which I did for about six months.  Retirement was not for me so I got a job in the homeowners’ association where I lived as property manager for a community of about 3000 homes.

After six years of that, it was time to try retirement again.  That was the end of 2006 and this time it’s working.  I’m enjoying swimming almost every day, reading, doing craft projects and serving in the Coral Springs Woman’s Club.  I’m also enjoying my twin 18-year old granddaughters, 6-year old granddaughter and 4-year old grandson.

It was really great seeing everybody at the 50th reunion and there’s an open invitation to stop by for an icy margarita or a pina colada the next time you’re in Coral Springs, Florida.

Married 1960, to Patt Cafferata; 2 girls, Lisa and Denise; 1 g/son, Zac; divorced 1974, but best of friends ever since; 'came out of the closet.'  Worked in data processing for 47 years, ending as Director of Information Security, for World Savings Bank, San Antonio, TX.  Lived in SF 10yrs, transferred by World to SA, in 1994, lived there 7 years; moved to Westchester and telecommuted for 3 years; retired 2004.

Bonnie, sweet and loving G'Ma that she is, took her twin Grandaughters on an Alaskan Cruise!  WOW!

So, figuring: What have I got to lose? I asked her to take ME, TOO, next time!

                                               And LOOK what I got!

Harruummmmph!  After ALL I did for you!

                                  (Oh, that's right, I ain't nuttin' for you :-)
