Romance started in 1952 in 8th grade, faltered, flared up in time for Prom, 1956.  Then it was on to NIU with the wedding in June, 1960 and graduation in June, 1961.  Our careers started – Ken as a Junior High Math Teacher and me as a Kindergarten teacher.  Our first daughter was born in 1962 and Coralie changed careers, becoming a stay at home Mom.  Today – 3 wonderful daughters, 2 really terrific grandsons and 1 great-grandson.  In the late 1960’s I earned my Master’s Degree but stayed the course as a Junior High Math Teacher until my retirement in 1994.  Returning to school I became an RN.  Today I work 1 day a week as a Home Health Nurse for a boy in 4th grade going to school with him.  Coralie had some part-time and full-time jobs, always working with children.  In 1992 she became serious about pursuing a paying career and earned her Masters Degree.  From then until retirement she worked with children with special needs.  This brought us in contact with Earl when he was 2 years old – a medically involved child in a local long term care facility in our town.  When he was 5 years old we accompanied him, 2 nurses and a respiratory therapist on a Make-A-Wish trip to DisneyWorld.  Ten months later Earl came to live with us.  Today Earl is 18 and we find ourselves busy helping him plan for his future as well as relaxing at a lake in the summer and hitting the ski slopes in the winter.
